The Orange Circus Band are a Celtic-Americana band based in
the UK, with roots in Wales, Cornwall, England and Virginia.
Despite having a hand in traditional roots music, they produce a
wholly unique, contemporary sound.

Their single release, Carmen Town, was produced by Leigh
Lawson (Mumford & Sons, CRYPTOCHROME). Click on the link
to watch the playful video to Carmen Town, animated by Marvel
comic artist, Guillermo Ortego.

Watch a live performance of Shady Grove performed for The
Tilehouse Sessions (music recorded by Luke Oldfield).

“A unique co-operative, they continue a historical musical lineage
in a contemporary, fresh and exciting way. Bring your dancing
shoes – they put on a brilliantly entertaining show – great playing,
beautiful harmonies and boundless energy that is guaranteed to
raise the roof, warm the heart and encourage the biggest of grins.”
John Televera, The Troubadour

“I can’t think of anyone else out there making music like them. If
Jonathan Richman and The Velvet Underground joined forces and
made a Bluegrass album…”
Rory Carlile, The Harrison

Fatea Magazine

“The Orange Circus Band is a band that fill my heart with joy

Trinity Big Top

In August 2013 Kay Ruby took the Breakfast at Trinity’s model to the next level.

In collaboration with the Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells, Kay Ruby directed the Trinity Big Top , a week-long arts festival, with Invisible Flock’s arts installation Bring The Happy at its core.

“Trinity Big Top artistic director Kay Ruby said: “The Big Top has captured everyone’s imagination. We’ve had an amazing response, people seem eager to support this new exciting local project”

Mary Harris – Kent Live News

“When Kay Ruby starts to explain the upcoming Big Top event to be held in the grounds of Trinity theatre, even she can’t avoid a giggle at the thought of a three pole circus style tent in the garden of a converted church….”

Caroline Read – Kent & Sussex Courier

“The Big Top has a lovely atmosphere, and still to come is Breakfast at Trinity’s, Comedy Cafe, Bring the Happy, Vintage Fair, plus films and workshops….”

“Loved it! Have a good one tomorrow morning!”

“Positive votes all round for the whole week – something for everyone I’d say..”

Breakfast at Trinity’s

We have been serving a side order of live music with your breakfast since February 2012.

We enjoyed our last Breakfast at Trinity’s in October 2014.  We had such a blast! Thank you to all of the fabulous artists who graced the Trinity Theatre Foyer Café stage over the years and the Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre & Foyer Café staff for supporting us!

Butterside Up Arts Group voluntarily  programmed and promoted the Breakfast at Trinity’s sessions at the Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells.

The Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre is a registered charity and gave us the use of their Foyer Café stage and technical equipment to present our live music events over breakfast.
We invited everyone in for free, to take a seat and enjoy the amazing live music performed from the Trinity Foyer Cafe stage!

The idea behind the Breakfast at Trinity’s event was to make live music performance more accessible to the local community and showcase live music artistes in a beautiful venue space; enabling those artistes to distribute their merchandise direct to their audience; assist in the promotion of the artistes work via the Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre networks and social media.

In August 2013 we took the Breakfast at Trinity’s model to the next level. In collaboration with the Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre, we organised the Trinity Big Top a week-long arts festival, with Invisible Flock’s arts installation Bring The Happy at its core. All brought together inside a circus style, big top tent, pitched in the middle of the back garden of the Trinity Theatre!

Such fun!
